When No One Will Believe You

Talking to these same self-entitled family members about my newly discovered lot in life (as a targeted individual (TI)) can tend to be comical at times, if it were not such a very serious subject with such serious repercussions. The first question that invariably comes up is:

1. What makes you think you're so important that anyone would invest that much time and effort harassing you?

Little do these people know that that is the very first question a TI asks themself when they become aware of this activity. Trying to explain that to people is near to impossible. To them you're just a bit too serious, touchy, sensitive, paranoid, and a host of other adjectives. We all have our idiosyncratic way of handling things, so why are so many people now complaining about this same type of scenario in their lives? If it's just a figment of our own personal (and possibly faulty) way of thinking, why are all the stories about this from all walks of life so similar?

The bad thing is that this can break families apart in argument when TIs are told "just get over it--let it roll off your shoulders, don't be so sensitive." Realistically, how can a TI just get over it, let it roll off our shoulders like water on the back of the proverbial duck, and not be sensitive to the fact that these perps are actually being successful in having you removed from job after job, are able to prevent you from finding work, and are interfering with your family, work, and personal relationships, when the only thing you (the TI) are doing is making sure you are at work everyday and producing like you're supposed to, providing for yourself and your family, and trying to have a little fun and recreation in life to assuage some of the trouble that is being caused for you?

This is when family members (probably unknowingly) make matters worse for the TI. My question to people like this is: How can a person who has had no mental or emotional problems in the past (except for the occasional light depression that all of us experience from time to time) suddenly start talking very coherently about what they are experiencing and then experience having the ones who are supposed to be the closest and most caring people in your life make sweeping judgments about your (the TI's) mental faculties? Wouldn't it behoove those who really care to at least listen with some degree of believability to what is being described? Haven't these types of things actually happened in real life to people in other countries? For example, the Stasi and Red Guard infiltrations in Russia, East Germany and Poland in the past? These things were perpetrated upon normal everyday citizens. It was done as a way to silence people and instill fear in the population. There is evidence that this is what we are experiencing here now in our country--yet people still cannot get their minds around this--the thought is "No, not here in the US, can't be. It's just you. You're overstressed and just need some rest." I wish that were the case--because the past two years of unemployment should have given me a substantial rest from all this--but it hasn't. It continues, and like the perps have said, I have this to look forward to until the day I die--or this rotten system ends, whichever is first.
